主干其实很短：Withdrawing creates a new conflict。主语不是人，是「抽身走开」这件事本身，动词加 -ing 直接当名词用。without 那一串挂在主语后面，交代的是怎么走的：不解释，也不给一个「还会再谈」的计划。逗号后面的 leaving 顺着往下说结果，把对方留在什么状态里，on the receiving end 是被丢下的那一方，scrambling to figure out 就是慌慌张张地琢磨。重心落在最后半截：扎人的不是沉默，是没交代的沉默。

Yet not everyone who goes quiet is trying to inflict pain. 的考点在 not everyone：部分否定，等于「有人想伤人，有人不想」，译成「所有人都不是故意的」就反了。出题人爱在这儿设选项，not 挨着 all、everyone、both 时先判断它否定哪个范围；它又压在段首，Yet 后面常是作者态度题的落点。

文末 The best and healthiest response is usually just the least reactive one. 可以整句当写作模板：主语用最高级，表语放 the least ... one，断言靠 usually 收力度。写建议类段落可换成 The most useful thing you can do is usually the smallest one。

雅思 Task 2 写「冲突该不该当场解决」，可以拿本文的分界当论点：健康暂停和冷暴力的差别不在时长，在有没有交代回来的时间，也就是可预期性。比争论「多久算太久」好落地。
